North American GSM (PCS 1900) networks use 1,900 MHz (compared with 900 and 1,800 MHz in some European countries) -- otherwise systems are fully compatible. "International Roaming" would require either a dual-mode (900/1,900 MHz) phone or phone swap / rental arrangement.
